On August 7, 2026, AtlasDSP released a major update for Atlas Amp, version 3.0.0, featuring new features and workflow optimizations.
The v3.0.0 update for Atlas Amp: YOUR LAST STEPS marks the completion of the plugin’s development and introduces a wealth of new features, particularly for modern, low-tuned guitar sounds (Drop G and lower). The focus is on new experimental effects, an enhanced live performance view, and revamped standard modules such as the compressor and delay.
New Effects and Pedals
Version 3.0.0 introduces several completely new effects that expand the sonic spectrum, particularly for experimental and extreme metal genres:
- Destroyz Effect: An experimental pedal for pitch-shift layers, octave textures, and “broken” modulations. It features controls for intensity, fracture (character), modulation, and fade, as well as switches for upper octaves (+1, +2).
- Heretic: A boost pedal specifically designed to tighten the lows and sharpen the attack. It provides greater definition for high-gain sounds and more precise palm mutes.
- Soulrot: A new distortion pedal with controls for Level, Low/High EQ, and “Rot” (distortion character). A Mode switch offers various timbres for heavy rhythm sounds.
- DI Ashfall: A pedal for enriching the low end that can layer up to two octaves lower (OCT-I, OCT-II). Built-in high- and low-pass filters allow for precise shaping of the octave layers.
- Doubler: Creates stereo width and a thicker sound by controlling Width, Delay, Drift, and Blend.
Revised Modules
Existing components have been thoroughly revised (“Reworked”) to improve their functionality and sound quality:
- DIVENT: The ring modulator has been upgraded to a studio-grade effect, ideal for glitchy leads.
- Compressor: Now serves as an “always-on” essential that evens out dynamics, boosts the pick attack, and can function as a clean booster.
- Boostify: A versatile pre-pedal with a 3-band EQ, adjustable mid-frequency, and dedicated Crank and Shape controls for precise tone shaping before the amp.
- Chorus, Delay & Reverb: These modulation effects have received improved controls. In addition to “Normal” mode, the reverb now offers a Shimmer mode with pitch-shifted overtones. The delay now supports sync-capable time values (e.g., 1/8D).
New Amp Models and IRs
Although the focus was on effects, the amp and speaker simulations have also been expanded:
- New Amp Voicings: New variants have been added for the existing amp models, including specific settings for the “Main Amp” and the extreme “Hell Amp” (with a voice switch for alternative EQ curves).
- WAYFINDER IR Pack: The update includes 9 hand-selected impulse responses from Donlon Audio, which are specifically tuned for Atlas Amp’s amp heads. A total of 22 IRs from various manufacturers (AtlasDSP, NSS Audio, KaosAmp, Donlon Audio) are now available.
Additional Features and Live View
A key feature of the update is the introduction of new tools for live performance and tone matching:
- Live View: A special view for live performances with enlarged controls, a large preset display, a MIDI connection check, and a dedicated 14-band Global Live EQ. This EQ is active only in Live View and allows for quick adjustments to different venues without changing the presets. Presets can also be color-coded.
- Pickup DNA (Beta): An innovative feature that captures the frequency spectrum of your guitar’s pickup and intelligently adapts the sound to Factory, Artist, or User profiles. This makes it possible to match the tone of different guitars to a preferred pickup sound.
- Advanced Control: Improvements to input calibration and the Amp Response mode (Linear vs. Dynamic) for a more consistent playing experience.
