Beear's Plugins released the IR Mixer, an impulse response loader that allows you to load, shape and mix 8 IR *.wav files.
The two main features of the IR Mixer are, first, that you can mix the 8 IRs, and second, that you can export this mix as a *.wav file.
Being able to export this mix is definitely a nice feature. So is mixing 8 IRs.
What makes the IR Mixer so interesting to me is that you can load your 8 favorite IRs and select them quickly when you switch amp heads. I’ve noticed this time and again with other IR loaders. I have an amp head that I like and want to use to create different cool sounds with various IRs. However, since some IR loaders only have 1 or 2 slots in the guitar amp sims, I constantly had to reload the individual impulse response files. That’s really a hassle. With the IR Mixer, I’ve loaded my 8 favorites and can quickly switch back and forth between them. It’s just super convenient. In addition, the IR Mixer has a simple and straightforward design, making it very intuitive to use and including only what you need.
I’ve tried it out, and it’s just fun to use this IR Loader. No unnecessary clutter to get in the way. In my opinion, it’s ideal for use in combination with Steven Atkinson’s original NAM Loader Gateway.
Key Features & Architecture
- Parallel Summing Topology: 8 independent convolution slots feed mono or stereo .wav data, routed directly into a shared sub-group bus (IR BUS).
- Parallel DRY Path: A clean channel strip allowing you to blend raw transient snap and fundamental bite back into the master output stage.
- Strip Utilities: Every slot features dedicated Volume Faders, Pan, Phase Inversion, Mute, and Solo buttons.
- Tone Shifter: A single-knob equalizer per channel (counter-clockwise boosts lows, clockwise shifts emphasis to highs).
- Workflow Shortcuts: Ctrl + Click on any active Mute/Solo clears all console states instantly. Ctrl + Click on a folder icon purges the slot data from RAM.
- Envelope Shaping: Clicking the Gear Icon opens a dedicated overlay featuring Start/Length cropping, linear Fade In/Out envelopes, and algorithmic Time-Stretching (50% to 200%) to warp pitch and decay times.
- Gain Staging Tools: Individual channels support peak normalization to -6 dB.
- WAV Export: The IR BUS features an Export IR WAV button to bake the entire parallel mix - including panning, phase, and global envelopes - into a standalone 32-bit .wav file rendered at the project's current sample rate.
Formats & System Requirements:
- Linux (x86-64 & Experimental ARM64): Native LV2, VST3, and CLAP builds.
- Windows (10/11, 64-bit x86-64 only): VST3 and CLAP builds.
