New Plugin & Contest | MixWave - Yvette Young

On June 16, 2026, MixWave released the Yvette Young plugin. To celebrate, they're holding a contest that you can sign up for and enter until July 29, 2026.

In early May 2026, MixWave released the Benson Monarch Collection (guitar-sims.com reported on it). Since then, the polyphonic octave generator EHX POG was released in early June. Now, in mid-June 2026, MixWave is expanding its guitar plugin lineup with the Yvette Young plugin.

The Yvette Young Plugin

The MixWave: Yvette Young plugin is a comprehensive guitar amp and effects simulation that digitally recreates the entire signal chain setup used by guitarist Yvette Young (known for her work with the band Covet). 

Contents and Features

At its core is a modeled, hand-wired British combo amplifier (based on a Vox AC30), paired with a speaker simulation that lets you choose between Alnico Blue and Greenback speakers, as well as 15 virtual microphones with adjustable positioning.  This is complemented by nine built-in effects pedals that reflect Young’s signature pedalboard:

  • Modulation & Time-Based Effects: Reverb, analog delay, harmonic tremolo, chorus, and a unique lo-fi modulator for experimental textures. 
  • Distortion & Dynamics: Overdrive, fuzz, an optical compressor, and an octaver. 
  • Tools: A flexible signal chain (with freely selectable effect order), built-in EQ, compressor, transpose function (pitch shifting), tuner, and dedicated controls for “Focus,” “Contour,” and “Vibe.” 

Target Audience

The software is primarily aimed at guitarists and producers looking for atmospheric, clean, and modulated sounds, particularly from the math rock, ambient, post-rock, and indie genres. 

  • Fans of Yvette Young: Users who want to replicate her distinctive, “dreamy,” and technical sound. 
  • Experimental musicians: Thanks to the freely configurable signal chain and the lo-fi modulator, it appeals to musicians who want to create new textures beyond classic rock sounds. 
  • Beginners to professionals: The plugin offers simple presets for quick results on one hand, and in-depth mic placement and adjustment options for detailed sound shaping in the studio on the other. 


The Contest

  • The contest runs from June 28 to July 29, 2026. 
  • The submission deadline is July 29, 2026, at 11:59 PM ET.
  • The winner will be announced on July 31, 2026.

To participate, you must register with your email address, download the free Yvette Young plugin as a trial, use it to make a recording of about 1 minute, and post it on Instagram on Yvette Young and MixWave’s pages. The detailed instructions can, of course, be found on the website.
